Keir Starmer Faces Leadership Crisis After Poor Election Results

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer is undergoing a crisis of leadership after ‘bleak’  electoral results where his party lost its traditional 27-year reign in Wales and made huge losses at the local government level in the core heartlands of England. As Reform UK dominates in England and Plaid Cymru leads in Wales, the Prime Minister is standing firm against demands for his resignation, insisting that stepping down will plunge the country into chaos. While he enjoys support from leading cabinet members such as Rachel Reeves and John Healey, the Prime Minister has encountered a revolt from the left and soft-left wings of the party. Some MPs want him to announce an exit strategy, while others believe that Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham could replace him. The unions say the writing is on the wall, and even Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar wants him out. However, the Prime Minister is making plans for a "reset" of his premiership next week.
